Notary Service & Identification
Notarizing a document is verifying the identity of the signer, therefore it is indispensable for the signer to appear before the notary. Our notaries must be presented with satisfactory evidence of the signer's identity. The identification document presented must be current or issued within five years.
The identity of the signer can be established by the notary public's reasonable reliance on the presentation of any of the documents listed in section "Accepted IDs" below.
READ MOREwhen the signer of a document is unable to present a valid id, the only available alternative is to use two credible identifying witnesses to confirm his identity. These witnesses must present their own IDs.
If one of the two witnesses is personally known to the notary, then only one witness is necessary to identify the signer.
When the signer of a document cannot write his or her name, that person may sign the document by mark. The signer's mark must be witnessed by two persons who must subscribe their own names as witnesses on the document. The detailed procedure is explained by the notary at the time of signing.

NOTARY PUBLIC
HISTORY.Notaries Public, also called "notaries", "notarial officers", or "public notaries", hold an office which can trace its origins back to the ancient Roman Republic, before Cicero 106-43 B.C., when they were called scribae ("scribes"), tabellius ("writer"), or notarius ("notary"). They are easily the oldest continuing branch of the legal profession worldwide.
DEFINITION.A notary public in the common law world is a public officer constituted by law to serve the public in non-contentious matters usually concerned with estates, deeds, powers-of-attorney, and foreign and international business. A notary's main functions are to administer oaths and affirmations, take affidavits and statutory declarations, witness and authenticate the execution of certain classes of documents, take acknowledgments of deeds and other conveyances, protest notes and bills of exchange, provide notice of foreign drafts, prepare marine or ship's protests in cases of damage, provide exemplifications and notarial copies, and perform certain other official acts depending on the jurisdiction. Any such act is known as a notarization. The term notary public only refers to common-law notaries and should not be confused with civil-law notaries. In California, Notaries are appointed by the Secretary of State of California.
Generally speaking, a notary public may be described as an officer of the law whose public office and duty it is to draw, attest or certify under his official seal deeds and other documents, including conveyances of real and personal property and powers of attorney; to authenticate such documents under his signature and official seal in such a manner as to render them acceptable, as proof of the matters attested by him, to the judicial or other public authorities in the country where they are to be used, whether by means of issuing a notarial certificate as to the due execution of such documents or by drawing them in the form of public instruments; to keep a protocol containing originals of all instruments which he makes in the public form and to issue authentic copies of such instruments; to administer oaths and declarations for use in proceedings, to note or certify transactions relating to negotiable instruments, and to draw up protests or other formal papers relating to occurrences on the voyages o ships and their navigation as well as the carriage of cargo in ships. -
